Star-point reactors are grounding devices installed in HVDC stations between the converter transformer secondary side and AC of arms to provide a reference ground. Such used as high-impedance on power transformers, providing high impedance path for fundamental harmonic (i.e. 50 or 60 Hz) low DC current, eliminating current flowing through windings. Temperature rise capability tests 420 kV star-point reactor presented this paper. The purpose temperature test is verify that temperatures can damage insulation will not be reached with specified service conditions. was carried out according requirements IEC 61869-3 standard client’s request which included simultaneous application fundamental, 3rd voltage excitation. inclusion excitation an amplitude up 15% simulates distortion may appear system at location installation.
